Aviation Detection Lighting Systems automatically turns off wind turbine lighting when it is not required. Through TCL, this advanced technology is now seamlessly integrated into a lighting system, enabling effortless outfitting of new and existing turbines.

The system consists of a compact control cabinet, two LED beacons with red and infrared light, and an antenna box.
Infrared marking integrated
An Infrared stage is integrated in the LED lights to meet the requirements of the German AVV.
No network integration
The system works decentralized. It does not have to be connected to a central or nationwide sensor network. Nor is it necessary to integrate it into an MLAT cluster.
Remote control by GSM services
All functions of ADLS and beaconing are transmitted via mobile radio to the Dark Sky data center and stored there. Statistics can be retrieved and alarm functions activated via the Internet.
For new turbines or retrofit
Since no project-specific commissioning is required, the system can be installed at the factory just like a conventional lighting system. On existing plants, the system is interesting if the existing firing system is to be replaced with a modern variant.
No test flights
The type examination of the BNK system no longer requires a mandatory flight survey or drive test to complete the site examination.

Versatile application options

The TCL system was developed to be retrofitted in existing wind turbines as well as to be installed in new turbines already at the factory. As a result, it offers a flexible solution to BNK requirements for both existing turbines and new projects. The system does not require integration into existing networks or connection to central or multilateral BNK systems.

Cost efficiency and predictability

The combination of aviation lights and ADLS in one system allows a cost-efficient production of the hardware. Thanks to a special WEA-linked license agreement to the transponder patents, license fees can be calculated into the offers. This enables operators and manufacturers to better plan and fulfill their BNK obligations at predictable costs.

Low complexity

The system combines firing and ADLS functions in one package with few components. This allows for easy installation, as no extensive adjustments to the WTG manufacturer’s processes are required. This integration can be implemented like a conventional lighting system without major changes.

Easy maintenance and monitoring

The LED beacons used are proven components from ENERTRAG Systemtechnik’s proXS series. The TCL system monitors these lights and enables condition monitoring via Dark Sky’s online tool. A service contract regulates the scope of maintenance, ensuring smooth implementation and long-term support.
