Transponder ADLS

Transponder-based detection has become the actual standard in ADLS technology. Dark Sky utilizes the signals, which aircraft are transmitting for other services such as TCAS or ATC, for aircraft detection. Modern standards, such as ADS-B are transmitting complete data sets for position and height, older standards such as Mode A/C are used for Dark Sky’s patented distance calculations.

Decentral Transponder ADLS

Dark Sky offerd decentral ADLS system, where every aircraft obstacle uses ist own flight traffic receiver for a direct connection between the ADLS hardware and the light control systems. This method provides several advantages:

  • No network integration
    The system must not be integrated in the windfarm infrastructure or needs any hard-wired ethernet connection for performant operation.
     
  • Higher accuracy
    When obstacle and antenna are in the same place, complex position calculations are not needed, only the height and distance of the aircraft must be determined
     
  • Insensitive for complex terrain
    When the pilot has a sight to the warning light, the antenna has a line-of-sight connection to the aircraft
     
  • Smarter processes
    Decentral ADLS system can be handled such as normal warning lights, but with an active detection part. No project management needed.
